106. 328 International Marketing Strategies: How MTV, the Internet and a Changing Global Society Bring the World of Music Together.

As the concept of a "global society", or a "one-world nation" takes root, it can be argued that pop culture is at the forefront of the movement. American movies, music, TV programming and home video, now account for over eight billion dollars in revenue annually. Among the top moneymakers are Mickey Mouse, Madonna, Michael Jackson, McDonald's, Levi's jeans and Coca-Cola. One might wonder how two individual pop singers could find them on a list that includes some of America's strongest corporate icons. While they may represent the power of the American music industry overseas, Michael Jackson and Madonna are certainly not alone. Of the 20 billion dollars that the music industry earns annually, approximately 70 per cent of its revenues come from outside the United States. Clear evidence of a worldwide trend towards increasing demand for American music, including some genres such as Country and Western, and Urban Hip-Hop, that in the past may have been considered unmarketable overseas.

This paper discusses the world of TV animation has come a long way since the days when it could be found only on Saturday mornings and during after-school hours. Today, "cartoons" can be found twenty-four hours a day, from children's shows on Nickelodeon, and the Cartoon Network, to more adult-oriented fare on Comedy Central and prime-time network television. For this study, I decided to watch four contrasting styles of animated programs.

110. 562 An Analysis of Bruce Willis.

This paper discusses the life of Bruce Willis. From the moment Willis appeared on television screens across America as the irreverent and likable private detective, David Addison, opposite Cybil Shepherd in the hit show Moonlighting, there was little doubt that he was destined for stardom. As popular as Willis and the show had become however, he was becoming just as well known as a brash Hollywood bad-boy and pet subject of supermarket tabloids for his on-set run-ins with Shepherd. Luckily for Willis the quality of his work was high enough that his questionable reputation did not damage his appeal. Willis' first lead film roles would come two years into his Moonlighting tenure, when he made a pair of films with famed director Blake Edwards, the poorly received Blind Date (1987) and an awkward turn as screen cowboy Tom Mix in Sunset (1988).

111. 754 Legally Blonde

1"Legally Blonde," the directing bow of Robert Luketic, is an intentionally frothy, good-natured comedy about female empowerment and getting to show your true colors in a cynical society. At the forefront is Witherspoon, in a role that is perfectly tailor-made for her sturdy comedic talents and she shines in every second of its entertaining, fast-paced 96 minutes.

This paper discusses two issues concerning children and television. This is an opinion paper on television, news, and children. "A group of students begin firing on their peers. Children are being killed while others stand screaming or trying to make a run for it." Your child stands watching the news while tears drips down her cheeks. She asks, "Dad, could that happen at our school?" Perhaps it is not your child, but a sister, niece, or a friend's child, would you want them watching such trauma. What effects could this have on the child? This paper will discuss news, television, and children with the effects that these may have upon a child.
